Mist Humidifier

With a growing number of people suffering from respertory problems, now is a good time to take a closer look at air mist humidifiers and at what can be done to help people who are suffering with breathing difficulties and provide additional comfort for other symptoms such as, dry itchy skin, chapped lips, and generally enhance the living space in our homes, and not just for us you’re plants and animals will also benefit.

So just what is a mist humidifier, and how will it benefit me?

Well, a humidifier is a household appliance that increases humidity (moisture in the air) in a single room or in the entire home. There are point-of-use humidifiers, which are mostly used to humidify a single room, whole-house Humidifiers, or furnace type humidifiers which connect to a home’s air conditioning system to provide humidity to the whole house. All have controls to set the amount of humidity in the air. It is recommended that humidity levels be set between 40% and 60%.

The wick absorbs water from the water reservoir which supplys a big enough  area for the water to evaporate from. The fan is behind the wick which blows moisture into the room in the form of a mist to assist humidification.

With the spray mist type: A pipe, usually a small plastic tube, brings water directly to an electrically-controlled valve in the humidifier. Water mist is sprayed directly into the supply air, and the mist is carried around the area by the air flow.

In these modern times our homes are highly insulated and draught proofed, as a result the air in the home tends to become trapped and dryer, sometimes too dry, here is where a Mist humidifier will help make your living space a more pleasant place to be in.

Some humidifiers also come with, or act as, an air purifier and they can also be of great benefit in aiding breathing problems and provides additional comfort for other symptoms like, , chapped lips, dry itchy skin etc, so now, as we approach the winter cold and flue season is a good time to take a closer look at humidifiers.

There are two basic types of humidifiers, they are, cool air humidifiers, and warm air humidifiers, depending on your location, for example: are you living in a warm climate or a cold climate?  You have a choice as to whether the cool air or warm air humidifier is best suited to your needs. I will go into greater detail on individual humidifier units later to help you decide.

So here are three main things to remember to look out for when buying a humidifier.

Room size:  Do I want to cover the whole house or just one area?

Warm or cool: Do I want a cool humidifier or a warm  humidifier?
